About the YEFFA project

DRST is implementing the Youth Entrepreneurship for the Future of Food and Agriculture (YEFFA) project.

The project aims to increase employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth, especially young women and persons with disabilities, through:

  • Inclusive agribusiness
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Market systems development
  • Climate-smart agriculture

Position summary

The Project Field Officer will support the day-to-day implementation of project activities at the community level.

The successful candidate will mobilize beneficiaries, facilitate training, provide business coaching, strengthen market linkages, coordinate with local stakeholders, monitor field activities and ensure the timely reporting of project results.

Key responsibilities

The Project Field Officer will:

  • Mobilize and register project beneficiaries.
  • Conduct community sensitization and stakeholder engagement meetings.
  • Facilitate training on entrepreneurship, agribusiness, climate-smart agriculture and business management.
  • Coach and mentor youth-led enterprises and producer groups.
  • Support market linkage and financial inclusion initiatives.
  • Collect and manage project data, including data on persons with disabilities, using digital tools and in line with CBR Matrix guidelines.
  • Ensure the accuracy, confidentiality and proper documentation of project data.
  • Prepare timely field reports and success stories.
  • Coordinate with Local Government Authorities, community stakeholders and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
  • Ensure that safeguarding, disability inclusion and gender equality are integrated into all project activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager(s).

Qualifications and experience

Applicants must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Community Development, Development Studies, Rural Development, Entrepreneurship, Economics or another related field.
  • At least three years of experience implementing community development, agriculture, youth empowerment or livelihood projects.
  • Experience facilitating community training and mobilizing beneficiaries.
  • Experience supporting youth entrepreneurship, agribusiness development or income-generating activities.
  • Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture and sustainable food systems.
  • Experience using digital data collection platforms such as KoboToolbox or ODK.
  • Strong report-writing, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills.

Experience managing data on persons with disabilities and familiarity with CBR Matrix guidelines is highly desirable.
