Ecobank Tanzania, a subsidiary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) — a leading pan-African multinational bank operating across 34 countries — delivered an outstanding financial performance in 2012, recording remarkable growth across all key metrics. Overall, 2012 marked a defining year for Ecobank Tanzania, with the Bank demonstrating strong momentum and a clear trajectory toward becoming a dominant force in Tanzania’s banking sector.
Revenue surged by 125% to a record TSh 8.6 billion, reflecting the Bank’s strengthened market position and expanded business activities. Total loans and advances more than doubled, rising by 112% to an unprecedented TSh 77.4 billion, underscoring the Bank’s growing role in supporting individuals and businesses across Tanzania.
On the deposit side, total deposits climbed by 49% to TSh 72.6 billion, driven largely by intensified cash-in-transit collection efforts. This robust deposit growth provided the foundation for a 74% expansion in total assets, which reached TSh 114.4 billion — yet another significant milestone in the Bank’s growth journey.
