Located in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, TPC Limited is among the country’s largest and most established sugar-producing companies. The company operates on approximately 16,000 hectares of land, with nearly 8,000 hectares dedicated to sugarcane cultivation. Over the years, TPC Limited has invested heavily in upgrading its agricultural fields, infrastructure, machinery, and factory equipment to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
These continuous investments and improvements have enabled the company to significantly increase sugar production, growing from an annual output of about 30,000 tonnes to more than 100,000 tonnes today. Alongside this growth, TPC Limited has gained extensive expertise and improved efficiency in several key areas, including sugarcane varieties, irrigation systems, fertilization methods, transportation, and sugar recovery processes.
Despite achieving strong operational performance and maturity in its current activities, TPC Limited continues to pursue further expansion and modernization. The company plans to increase sugar production in the coming years by cultivating additional land, introducing improved sugarcane varieties, implementing more advanced irrigation and fertilization technologies, and enhancing factory recovery systems.
In addition to sugar production, TPC Limited is exploring several long-term development projects aimed at increasing value addition and sustainability. These initiatives include establishing a distillery to maximize the value of molasses by-products and expanding electricity generation throughout the year through the use of non-cane biomass during the intercrop season.
TPC Limited is also a major employer in Tanzania, with approximately 1,900 permanent employees and around 1,000 seasonal workers. Furthermore, the company supports an additional 800 jobs through outsourced services, making it an important contributor to economic growth and employment in the Kilimanjaro region and beyond.
