Quarry Shift Supervisor Job Vacancy at Tanga Cement PLC, Tanga – October 2026

Tanga Cement PLC is seeking a Quarry Shift Supervisor to supervise and coordinate quarry, crushing, and raw material supply activities during assigned shifts.

The position is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient contractor performance while achieving quarry production, crusher throughput, raw mill feed, quality, and environmental targets. The role also ensures continuous raw material supply from the quarry through crushing operations to the cement plant.

Key Responsibilities

Contractor Supervision

• Direct and supervise contractor personnel involved in drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, crushing, and other quarry activities.
• Monitor contractor performance against contract KPIs and production targets.
• Ensure contractors utilize equipment and resources efficiently.
• Verify contractor manpower, equipment availability, and shift attendance.
• Coordinate contractor activities to minimize operational disruptions.

Production Management

• Execute daily quarry production plans issued by the Quarry Superintendent.
• Monitor extraction, loading, hauling, and dumping activities to achieve shift targets.
• Track production volumes and equipment productivity.
• Coordinate with blasting, crushing, and maintenance teams to ensure operational continuity.
• Manage stockpile levels and material quality requirements.
• Supervise contractor personnel involved in crusher operations.
• Ensure crushers are operated safely and efficiently to achieve planned throughput.
• Monitor crusher performance, throughput rates, and downtime.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to address equipment breakdowns and operational issues.
• Ensure proper feeding practices to prevent blockages, excessive wear, and unplanned stoppages.
• Verify housekeeping standards in crusher areas and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Raw Mill Feed Management

• Ensure continuous and consistent supply of suitable limestone and additives to maintain raw mill operations.
• Monitor crusher stock levels and raw material stockpile management.
• Coordinate with Production and Quality Departments to maintain the required raw mix chemistry and quality targets.
• Optimize quarry material blending to achieve plant quality requirements.
• Communicate regularly with CCR (Central Control Room) operators regarding raw mill feed demand and material availability.
• Take corrective action to prevent raw mill stoppages caused by insufficient material supply or poor material quality.

Staff Management

• Manage employee performance against established standards.
• Identify causes of non-performance.
• Recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Provide coaching and training.
• Identify staff development and training needs.

Compliance and Other Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Ensure OSHA compliance in accordance with company and statutory requirements.
• Observe relevant environmental policies and regulations.
• Comply with the Heidelberg Materials Group Code of Business Conduct, compliance policies, and guidelines.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Registration with ERB or another reputable engineering professional body.

Knowledge and Experience

• 2–3 years of experience in quarry activities.
• Experience supervising employees.
• Technical knowledge of good mining practices.
• Team leadership and joint problem-solving skills.
• Quantitative analysis and decision-making skills.
• Technical knowledge and experience using survey instruments.
• Strong attention to detail.
